For valentine s day i decided to design a heart pillow.

I think the pillows look like boxes of valentine chocolates. Now i know we are months away from that time of the year but it does help to start making gifts earlier in the year. Perfect for a fun throw pillow for a chair or bed or for a little one to rest their head on while reading. I also added a scallop border.

Once i got started though i changed my mind and decided to use white yarn for the font as opposed to red. The plaid pillow with heart is a free crochet pattern and made using single crochet stitches and the plaid crochet pattern technique. You should now have two completed heart panels like so. Chain 1 and single crochet the two heart pieces together through the single crochet stitches on the borders.

These crochet heart pillows are fun to make and are so soft and squishy when they are finished. I was originally going to design the pillows to look like candy conversation hearts. Place the two panels together matching up all sides. When you are happy with how the pillow is filled out finish single crocheting the two pieces together.

The smaller pillow measures 8 wide x 7 5 tall. Using hook size f 5 3 75 mm heart pillow measures approximately 7 5 inches wide by 8 inches tall including the ruffle. Blo back loop only. This pattern includes instructions for two sizes of heart pillows.

Crochet all the way down and around the heart and up the opposite side. My favorite time of the year is the winter season especially the holiday season. Leave enough space to fit your hand into the pillow and fill it with poly fil. You ll need worsted weight yarn and a 4 5mm crochet hook.
